CICT: Indoor 5G Can Be Used to Upgrade the Old Stock DAS
On June 25th, at the 25th GTI Network Working Group 5G Symposium, Wu Guojun, Manager of China Information and Communication Technology Group Co., Ltd. (CICT) Datang Mobile 5G Solution, delivered a keynote speech titled “Re-use Existing DAS: From 4G to 5G”. Explain the understanding of CICT on the evolution of 5G room division. And focuses on the traditional deployment and intelligent evolution of traditional room division in the 5G era, sharing the 5G DAS network deployment and test results of CICT in Hubei.
Wu Guozhen said: “In the 5G era, more business rely on indoor networks. Traditional room divisions have distinct features in 5G network deployment. DAS is deployed in the 2.6GHz band, from the old passive devices to the existing network. There is a theoretical possibility in point deployment.” Compared with traditional room division, more intelligent is the development direction of the future 5G indoor network.
CICT adopted the smart room division solution with independent intellectual property rights of China Mobile Research Institute as the transformation direction of indoor network intelligence. The solution adopts the smart room sub-antenna with integrated Bluetooth module inside, and superimposes and deploys the Bluetooth gateway at the source, micro-reconstructs the existing room sub-network, increases the system’s DC-capable capability, and can provide network node fault monitoring, asset management, indoor the ability to locate and collect information such as IOT helps operators to better operate indoor networks and expand vertical services in the 5G era.
In his speech, Wu Guozhen also shared the industry’s first launch of CICT recently completed the 5G DAS system jointly with Hubei Mobile in Wuhan, Hubei Province. This deployment upgrade, partially multiplexed 4G DAS, quickly fed 5G signals with 5G high-power RRU, and replaced the head-end antenna with a smart room sub-antenna with integrated Bluetooth module.
“We focused on single-user peak, fixed-point and pull-net testing. The test results show the performance of different network-based solutions. Under the two-channel indoor network, the single-user downlink peak test reaches a rate of 700Mbps or more, in line with the theory. At the same time, we also studied the performance differences between different dual-channel configurations such as dual-single-polarization and dual-channel dual-polarization”, Wu Said.
Traditional passive indoor distributed systems have problem such as uncontrollable and uncontrollable passive devices at the head end. This deployment also focused on verifying the capabilities of the smart room in fault monitoring and digital operation and maintenance.
Finally, Wu Guojun also compared the network construction costs under different deployment scenarios and gave 5G DAS deployment experience and recommendations. The cost of the DAS system using the smart room sub-solution is about 4-8% compared to the traditional DAS. The PICO+DAS-based converged networking solution can reduce the cost by 40-50% compared with the pure PICO. The main area has the possibility of promotion and deployment, and future proposals can solve the large-scale deployment problem of smart room points through collection.
At the same time, in the construction process of 5G room, it’s also recommended to consider the coverage requirements of various systems and partially transform the weak coverage points to build a 5G indoor distributed system with intelligent, digital, low failure rate and excellent coverage.
